DSD R&D Forum 2022

In support of our vision to provide world-class wastewater and stormwater drainage services, the Drainage Services Department (DSD) is committed to promoting R&D works and encouraging collaboration with stakeholders in the industry.  As the highlight of each year, we have been holding the DSD R&D Forum since 2006.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world since 2020 and posed a huge challenge to organising any large-scale events. DSD R&D Forum was suspended in 2020 and 2021, but collaboration with the academia, R&D partners and stakeholders has never halted.

DSD R&D Forum 2022 will be held on 18 October 2022 at the Hong Kong Science Museum. On one hand, DSD aims to explore innovative solutions in taking forward the initiative of “Rivers in the City”, with a view to promoting water friendliness and combating climate change. The theme of the morning session is “Driving a New Era of Stormwater Management – “Rivers in the City””. On the other hand, while challenges such as COVID-19 pandemic and climate change persist, we strive to adopt smart and sustainable technologies in our sewage treatment facilities. The theme of the afternoon session is “New Insights into Wastewater Management”.

While the DSD R&D Forum has entered its second decade, it has established itself into a popular annual event where representatives from the government, academia, industry and other stakeholders gather, network and develop new research ideas.
